Add a Mirror to Your Room
Mirrors may not be the first idea in your mind when it comes to accessorizing your room, but they shouldn’t be overlooked. This piece of decor holds a variety of surprising uses and tricks to help bring out your space. They are also a popular choice when decorating your home based on the principles of Feng Shui, as mirrors amplify what energy is reflected in them and harvest it. What Can a Mirror Do?
Mirrors come in all shapes, sizes, and can be framed intricately to accentuate the room’s decor. They can be used in different ways to not only decorate your room, but add extra touches.
If you have a room that’s darker due to less light coming in, a mirror can help. To let the light in, simply place a mirror opposite or next to a window to increase the amount of natural light cast into the room. Not only does it bring that extra light in, the amount of light reflected is based on the size of the mirror used, allowing you to have some control for the atmosphere.
Using a mirror as a way to enhance something or deflect attention away from it is a cunning trick and a great one to use in rooms that have awkward spaces. For rooms that have a ceiling that is sloping, or for rooms with that gap that is too small to fit any piece of furniture, a mirror can solve these issues.
For windowless rooms, the addition of a mirror makes it feel much brighter and more spacious. This design trick causes the mirror to have the same effects as a window, reflecting your ceiling or floor lights, spreading it around the room to simulate a sunny room.
